On Oct. 1, Kell Osborne, northern soul & doo wop specialist, traveled from Alabama with the Primes to Detroit in the early 1960s, they became the Temptations...he went to the West Coast. Soon to have a major release on the Universal label.

In mid-Sept., Mighty Joe Houston, tenor saxman since the late 1940s and still going strong. Mr. All Nite Long!

Sad news: John Raino passes away

John Raino, 61, long time r&b collector and one-time counter man at Flash Records in Los Angeles, and member of the So. Cal. Doo Wop Society, passed away just after his birthday on Sept. 7, 2005 in Los Angeles at 5:35 a.m. (ironic as one of his favorite records was "535" by the Dreamers. He had been ill for some time and outlived the prediction of some medical professionals. No services are planned.
